I've allowed for a short getting up to fitness period.

And any ban will be backdated to the original testing date.

    I think things through, me.

Which suggests, as we all know, that there's more to this than meets the eye.

3 months, 6 months makes absolutely no difference to club or Jake. Whatever ban he receives will have this time period taken into account during which time he has been prevented from participating in nay football matters. In essence if he gets a 6 month ban and the outcome was defined tomorrow, he would have 3 months remaining. As it stands a 6 month ban I suspect is the best outcome in any event. 9 or 12 months would see him back for next season as I'm sure the Allams won't want to write off £7m (£5m net) without any likelihood of getting it back.

Not sure whether any ban that might be imposed is from the failed drugs test date (15th April) or when he was suspended which I think was 15th May. If they do look upon this in a favourable light, and accept these mitigating circumstances, then if he is given a 6 month ban, and the club stick by him, then he could be available either 15th Sept or 15th October.

Fingers crossed...I take it he can't train with us in the mean time?

I suspect that we'll probably stick by him, so long as the ban is no more than a year.

Is there any other sort of case ruling that has had similar mitigating circumstances?

I'm not aware of another match day fail with mitigating circumstances, I expect the fact that it's a bit of a one-ff is the reason for the delay.

This will set a legal precedent then. It will be interesting to see how they deal with this case in particular.

Whilst I completely sympathise with the loss of his child, I still can't condone drug use, personally.

We signed him a year ago so last year's accounts will show a write down of 1/3 of £8m (£2.66m). I'm sure FFP means they'd rather write down two further £2.66m than one £5.32m. That's more than 5 lots of £500k difference.

This tragic incident just shows how little we fans know about the players and what happens behind the scenes.

We've all moaned about Jake's form last season. It now comes to light that he had a personal tragedy.

I genuinely hope he gets his life back on track and stays.

If he gets a year ban I hope they let him do some training or coaching as it won't be an ideal for him to be at a loose end for that time if he has severe personal issues

No you are totally wrong, the grief from losing a child is not something everyone has to deal with and can not be compared to any other form of grief so stop talking bollocks you moron

Chiltons ' well said....I do not want to be able to imagine the loss of a child all else pales into insignificance. Just turning up deserves our respect.
Hand out the ban and offer to stand by him.
After that it's up to Jake.
