I wasn't saying that he shouldn't play against Palace for his benefit but for the club's. We're not exactly in a position to put developing a player over points on the board at the moment and that's why I want players playing that are well suited to the game, rather than players who could benefit from the experience. It's not that I have anything against Sherwood but if he doesn't get us in the top 4 then we should sack him and get someone new in. If we let him get away with finishing any lower then are we not walking into the same situation we had this season where not immediately living up to expectations erodes the belief in an inexperienced manager and they end up getting the boot. I'd rather we got someone in with experience who we are confident can do the job, even when they go through a bad patch.
Option C is not an option for me. I can't see him getting guaranteed football anywhere going by what he's shown so far. Another Prem team will not have any reason to persevere with him when he delivers very little in his first couple of games. No point sending him out to rot on Fulham's (eg) bench. Wasn't his fee £15m then £15m more with add-ons? If so we could get our money back. Or was that Soldado? I dunno if it's sheer desperation but I've started to feel more positive about his performances of late. I think there's a very good player in there. I'd keep him and give him more game time. Mind you I thought GDS would make it...
That would have worked buddy, but the deal would have had to be given the go-ahead from me and that certiantly isn't happening./..yet!
Can just imagine if/ when the day comes where Carroll looks set to leave permanently we'll see reports on SSN of an insane Spurs fan who's chained himself to something at Hotspur Way or the gates at WHL with a "Don't Sell Carroll!" board
