Yep, Somerset jumped up there last week, now Surrey (briefly) this week.
It's frustrating of course that both sides have found even greater form than us, but at least it has dragged other sides into it (Warks in particular are in trouble now). And besides, all we can do is win our game. And we really did win this one. Great result and performance.
Notts are surely gone now. The loser of this game, if there was one, was always going to be in deep trouble even without Surrey's win. It's one from, maybe, six? Obviously we are still favourites, and I would imagine that two wins from our last four is the minimum target. It might, might even take three wins. Fortunately for us, Surrey, Somerset and Durham are on with us in that group of six, so beating any of them would be of double benefit to us.
God knows who makes way for Vince and Ervine now. Crane and Wheal both taking wickets, following on from Carter in the first innings. Yes Berg was quiet, but he's too solid (and can actually bat) to be left out. Dawson because of his ODI duty (I assume the two clash, but haven't checked), and one other.
He was trying to waste time so Northants would be penalised for not getting their overs in on time .
Changed his gloves in the penultimate over, when Northants were in serious danger of giving away a 6 run penalty for slow over rate.
Hardly cheating though. The umpires added on a whole extra minute for it!

By the way. Looking at the Northants team, I may have found myself a sport/team I could join. Couple of.. Er, "big" lads!
No I disagree . He changed his gloves in the HOPE that Northants would be penalized . Didn't work though did it

David Wainwright is our latest new signing. We've signed him a week early though, we don't play Yorks (a former county of his) until next week.
Sounds like it's initially for one match only, whilst Dawson is with the ODI squad, to cover for the possibility of Somerset again producing something which turns square from ball one. But no doubt if he plays and if he does well, he'll stay until the end of the season.
Not a criticism of Wainwright in the slightest (nor of the club - with injuries and international call-ups, it's not like we've had much choice), but this season we've basically been cricket's equivalent of a homeless dog shelter.
