Innings defeat incoming.

Who would have thought that giving further chances to Weatherley, Middleton and Organ this season wouldn't work... A change of head coach doesn't magically turn these guys into D1 batters.

It's always felt to me like whose face fits as regards to selection. Orr's lack of playing time is particularly baffling.
 
Drop Gubbins, Brown, Middleton, Organ and Currie. Bring in Orr, bring back Lehmann and Dawson. Fuller in for Currie.

The Hawk reckons that Ali Orr is going away with Scotland and will not be available for the next 2 CC games, not that it looks like they'd have picked him anyway. So our choices for replacements are limited.

Hopefully Lehmann back for Middleton and Dawson back for Organ and then surely it has to be Fuller for Currie. We're probably stuck with the ineffective Yusuf with Wheal the only possible replacement? It's a shame that Turner's injured, otherwise I'd certainly give him a go.
 
That's a huge wicket for Yorks. We could really do with Somerset winning that one.
 
I think we also have to face the fact that, without Abbott, our bowling also looks very ordinary. Baker's done well so far this season but really our whole side is now looking like a Div 2 or Div 1.5 outfit at best. We need a proper overseas batter, alongside Lehmann, a domestic batter and an experienced county seam bowler.

We may think that players like Jack Leaning or Jack White wouldn't have been very "exciting looking", but one has to admit that they'd, actually, have added an awful lot to this side.

I can only assume that we did try to sign players like Hameed and Gay at the time, but couldn't get them over the line. Freddie McCann's been sidelined at Notts with Duckett playing, haven't seen Will Rhodes on a team sheet in a while - clutching at straws time!
 
Now it's in the hands of the weather gods. There is rain forecast for after lunch, but will it actually arrive and, if so, how heavy will it be.

Not that we deserve anything other than a loss.

Not until after 4pm according to the Met Office. Can't see us lasting until 3.
