What is the point in this large gap in games, we have had a period of beautiful weather and not a ball being bowled, come the end of the week and the weather will have deteriorated and probably no play possible, it doesn't make sense and surely clubs are losing out financially?
That's the way it is. Everyone has a week off at some point. There were only 2 Div 1 games when we played Somerset.

I don't usually care for 2nd XI cricket, but there were actually quite a few first team players involved for both sides between us and Middlesex this week. So a semi-decent standard, for once. Orr, Weatherley, Organ, Fuller, Kelly, Neal, Wheal, De Caires, Fernandes, Hollman, Falconer, Davies, Cullen, Cornwell, Kaushal.

Fuller has proven his fitness with 105* followed by 16 overs. But those overs being wicketless might count against him.

Oh great, just what we needed. Please tell me that they're not going to put Middleton or Weatherley back in ahead of Orr?!

The Hawk talks about Orr being 12th man for the game, but perhaps that was before the Lehmann news? The wording "getting closer to a first team return" is interesting, has he actually been carrying a niggle and they've been worried about his fitness for a full 4 days game?

I'd go for:

Orr
Gubbins
Prest
Albert
Brown (capt) (wk)
Mayes
Dawson
Fuller
Yusuf
Abbott
Baker

Middleton as 12th man in the field, supported by Currie and Weatherley.

Prest, Albert, Mayes and Fuller can form the slip/gully cordon between them.

Fuller's not ready yet apparently.

I'd be tempted to go with Organ and go 2 spinners. The weather has been so dry lately it's bound to turn on days 3 and 4.
That's a very good shout actually, I quite like that. There are due to be some showers around over the weekend but Jack hasn't exactly been taking loads of wickets as 4th seamer so far so won't lose much bowling penetration if it doesn't offer that much for the spinners.

I'd like to think that we can beat Glamorgan even without Lehmann. But yeah, I would much rather he was playing. Shame.

15 man squad named. Good to see Wheal back. Reckon Middleton will come in for Lehmann, Albert will drop to 4 and one of Wheal or Organ coming in for Jack.

I'm assuming that it's Middleton or Orr for Lehmann (or both, if we drop Mayes). And Currie or Organ for Jack, depending on how we want to make-up our attack.

Currie has been in every squad so far, so he's clearly close to the starting XI.

I don't think he's a CC bowler. Wheal has much more pedigree in the CC. If he's fit it's a no brainer for me.

But it's Domingo who has been naming Currie in the squad ahead of Wheal before now - regardless of what you or I might think.

If there was no intention to pick Currie this week, he'd have presumably played in the second XI game earlier this week. They both played in the second XI game last week.
