Last five players of round one coming up.

Yesterday the break between rounds one and two was about 90 minutes. Each team has 30 minutes to nominate 25 names, and then the ECB will put together a list of the 50 most nominated players, which the teams can then analyse before round two starts. Each player will be auctioned in order of most nominations.

I've lost count of how many times Rockets have been outbid for a player.

I can't work out if they've got no strategy (and so have few players who they're really targeting) or they're just refusing to be pushed too high.

And again

Sunrisers become the first side to fill their four overseas slots. So that is one less team for us to compete against for our final slot.

They only have £222k left to sign five players. They're likely going to need at least two, possibly three, close to the minimum price of £31k.

Looking down the list of remaining overseas players, I wonder if we're aiming for Du Plessis? He was previously GMR's captain in the IPL with Delhi (although he decided not to take part in the IPL this year), and if we've targeted him as our captain that could explain why we didn't bid for Vince.

He had an OK SA20 over the winter, but nothing amazing. There are many players in this auction who scored more than him (including some players who haven't yet been signed).

I'll take that. £45k is right on the line of between a first XI player and a squad player. And McKinney could easily be either for us depending on how the rest of the auction goes.

Happy that the Overton bids keep coming - we don't need him with Wood but this will take a chunk out of another team's budget.

Five players to sign. Maybe about £250k on three of them, and then about £80k on two of them.

So I can understand why we pulled out of Thompson.

I don't understand our thinking there. £80k is too much for a squad player and I don't see where he fits into our starting XI.

Good player though.

A year ago, Pretorius being on the list at £31k I'm sure would have interested many. But after a brilliant start to his career, he has stuttered.

Seven overseas players left. And whichever team waits until last will know that no-one can outbid them.

Interesting that we still haven't seen Currie or Mills yet. Not as many nominations as those who have already been put up.
