Good England win. But cricket story dominated by some young blokes going out and having a few drinks and looking for food when it all went a bit tits up. Outrageous behaviour on their part.

Let’s hope they pull in Brook et al and charge them. The only condition must be that the “judges” must be drawn from people who never behaved like a dickhead when under 30. Good luck with that.

FFS!!!

For me there's two issues that need resolving and it indicates what is wrong with some of the team.

1. By all means go out and enjoy yourself but as a sporting professional representing your country and with a match hours later why are you out at a night club in the small hours and drunk enough to react to a provocation? This is a lack of professionalism and should be handled by disciplinary proceedings within the team (ie dropped as unfit, fined, etc)

2. I get trying to protect your team mates but as a captain lying to the press / board / public etc is not acceptable.

The media also needs to stop driving the nails in with the constant rehashing of the news. Fine him, discipline him, drop him etc and then let him take his punishment and move on without it being bought up at every match for the next decade

Sounds like Hants are going after Stubbs as their second overseas T20 player. Would make sense given he's playing for the Brave in the Hundred.

I get the impression that we initially targeted Brevis for a return, but the competition for him is now so high that we've decided either not to compete with other counties for him or not to pay what he's asking, and so we've duly moved onto Stubbs due to his existing GMR links (Brave and Delhi).

You'll gather from my previous post I am a tad more lenient. However, whatever happens next I totally agree the bloody media need to give it a rest.

The problem wih Brook as we all know is he can't resist taking on a bouncer!

They come back after rain break, go on to win, and TNT fail to broadcast live. Unf*cking believable, why am I giving them money????

Banton has taken his chance in Duckett's absence. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts our opening WC game next weekend.

Stubbs to Hants confirmed. While Brevis would have been great, Stubbs is a great T20 player as well.

In addition to his GMR connections, he also has Birrell and Domingo as his coaches at the Sunrisers at the SA20 (where he captains). So this might be one of those signings which gets renewed for multiple years if everything goes well.

In terms of our Blast XI, I suppose it comes down to how we replace Howell. After missing out on Moeen, I get the feeling that we're going to have to stick with what we've got - which will either mean playing the extra bowler and having quite a tail below Dawson at no.7, or playing the extra batter and having Fuller bowl a full allocation most games. I'm guessing the former.

Albert, Vince, Weatherley, Stubbs, Cartwright, Fuller, Dawson, Currie, Wood, Baker, Turner

I doubt we're intending Lehmann to feature much in the Blast, and only time will tell if Prest can rediscover his form. So if we did want to play the extra batter instead, then it might be Orr or Mayes. I suppose Neser might be kept on to feature in the first game or two, if Stubbs is still at the IPL.

There's also the question of how often Dawson will be available. Having said that England have a test series against NZ throughout June which is handy but we do have a T20 series against India in July.

Part of me thinks that his return to the England fold was very much with the t20 WC in mind, and that they will move on from him once it's over. He turns 36 next month, and the next t20 WC is 2.5 years away in Australia/NZ. They were happy to largely ignore Dawson for years, until a WC in the sub-continent came along.

I suppose the question mark is over whether Rashid will retire from international t20 after this WC. I'm sure they see Rehan as Rashid's replacement, but I don't know if he's ready yet to be our sole front line spinner. If Rashid does retire, maybe that gives Dawson another 12 months?

Sussex given a 12 point penalty for the Championship and a two point penalty for both white ball competitions.

A very impressive OD and T20 series in Sri Lanka from England. Not an easy place to come and win cricket matches.

If we make it through the first group stage - which we really should - all three of our second group stages will be in SL (regardless of whether we finish 1st or 2nd in the first group stage), including two games at this ground. So playing these three games here should be helpful.

So Northants have ensured Lynn can't do what he did to them on Finals Day last year by signing him up for this years Blast.
