I see that Bashir swapped sides for day three, and was duly smashed for 1-83 off 12 overs by the Lions. Painful economy - again.

But the fact that we started the game with an all-pace attack, with Bashir bowling for the Lions instead, must be an indication of our thinking for the first test next week. Although I wouldn't be risking Wood; not when Carse and Potts are alternative options. If we do go in without a spinner, we can't have a bowler breakdown on us part way through the match.

They may as well go for an all pace attack as Bashir offers next to nothing anyway.

I think I'd be tempted to include Jacks if what's being reported about the pitch being drier than expected is true. Probably instead of Wood. I think a seam attack of Archer, Atkinson, Tongue and Stokes will be fine.

If I was picking then yeah, that's what I'd go for*, but it seems they are set on Bashir as the first choice spinner regardless of how he performs.

*assuming Wood does need more time
