Yes, that missed point is largely irrelevant, as long as we don't throw one away again with a slow over rate. As the game is unlikely to finish as a draw, the bottom line is: if we lose then the only thing that can save us is if Durham lose as well (which looks unlikely at this point).

Yes, the next crucial innings could be make or break, we really don't want to be chasing 200+ for the win, I don't think my nerves could take it!.

Of course, it goes without saying that I'd never set out wanting us to be relegated. However, I could have accepted it if we'd have won those one-day trophies as I've also accepted the fact that we're simply not strong enough to put a proper title challenge in. A season in Div 2, as long as we could come straight back up and batters would get some big runs and confidence, wouldn't be the end of the world for me.

However, given the final losses it would now just cap a miserable end to the season. I'd also worry about our ability to attract new players in Div 2. We desperately need an overseas batter and either 1 or, preferably, 2 new proven good county batters. Easier said than done, though.

I'd also like another good seam bowler, not much to ask for, is it? Or Turner to return to his old form. No idea on contracts but could try to poach Worcs talent like Brookes or Taylor?

It may not come in the next transitional season or two but I think we have an abundance of young talent coming through that bodes well for the future.

Goodness me the commentators like to get themselves in a muddle, don't they? Hampshire just need to match Durham's result to be safe, as long as we keep our own over rate in check to avoid a penalty there.

Well done Nottinghamshire. If I recall they we're promoted from the second división along with Middlesex, a few season ago. Talk about two teams going in opposite directions!!
