I wouldn't be surprised if Warks were to be successful in their run chase. But if Worcs beat them - and if Essex beat Sussex, with us and Yorks both getting draws - then the bottom seven will be relatively compact.

Apparently we’ll all get the refund automatically, once they have processed them! Fair play, I didn’t think it would be that easy. The woman I spoke to said she had never known a match finish on Day 2 before.

The club will lose a lot of money over this, with all the catering and drinks money they won’t get. A seriously stupid thing to do, and there’s still a possibility of the ECB taking action too. Somerset have history of this sort of thing!
Could have been worse. Could pay for days three and four of a county game, when you know a draw is the only outcome after five sessions

I'm not totally ruling out the possibility that we might get Varma to play 50 over matches. The BCCI are fine with Indian men playing one-day cricket overseas.

I presume he has no other cricket to play in August.

And he's duly now said that he thinks he'll be staying on with us during August, but he'll find out from the BCCI in the coming days.

I hope we can get him back next season as one of our overseas players in the CC. Quite amusing that it was pretty much a fluke that we signed him in the first place.

He's certainly been an excellent signing for us.

It's a market that I can see being exploited by more and more counties in the coming years. Indians are the only ones who you know won't be impacted by franchise leagues such as the MLC and CPL. And obviously there's a wealth of talent.

Sure, it means accepting not having them for the first two months of the season due to the IPL. But after that, outside of those who are called up for international duty, they're going to have good availability.

Re Felix Organ, He played for St Cross v Lymington in the Southern Premier recently. Top of the league clash. He got a ton and a 5 for.... as St Cross won by 170 to141.. Good to see the form continue..

I dropped 3 catches in a match at St Cross. I was usually confident of taking most catches that came my way but that day left a scar. I'd almost forgotten about it until you just mentioned it. Thanks.

Root has now gone past Dravid and Kallis on the all time Test run scorers leaderboard - up to 3rd. He may well end up in 2nd after the end of this Test....
