We're now at the stage where if/when a wicket finally falls Australia have to promote the likes of Maxwell and Stoinis up the order. Smith and Labuschagne, while excellent batsmen, don't have the brute power of the other two.

Well they did the right thing but Maxwell goes for a golden duck.
 
I do think it's a gamble going with this XI - we've basically gone from a pre-WC plan of loads of all-rounders, to none of them - but fingers crossed it works.

Apparently this isn't a great ground for bowling spin, which maybe explains why we've just gone with Rashid (and Root). Same as SA with just Maharaj (and Markram).
 
It would be nice if at least one of these two games today was a close game. This WC badly needs one, because everything has been one-sided so far. Pakistan-SL was probably the nearest thing to "close".
