So.the attention turns to Canterbury and Trent Bridge. Please no.contrived declarations with a relegation place at stake. If Kent match or better the Middlesex result they survive.
I fear Middlesex drawing their game and a 2nd innings batting collapse from Kent. Just a short walk up the road for me. The forecast looks good from 10am. It could be a long day.

It takes a vivid imagination to see how either team could do anything other than draw. It will take until mid- afternoon for Lancs to even post a reasonable target. From there I think Kent will play safe. The key to the outcome líes with Notts. Do they just make life difficult for Middlesex and settle for a draw. Morally, they should not even think of giving Middlesex a chance. For a contrived declarations, Notts would have to bowl "buffet" bowlers for Middlesex to set up.a target, which I think would be inmoral, although it is within the regulations that they can!

The battle to stay in Div 1 is just getting interesting. Middlesex need 6 wickets to beat Notts. Kent v Lancs will be a draw so Middlesex have to win.

Notts' lower order isn't the worst looking I've seen, but it's also not the best. Could go either way this.

No way this is a draw with over 20 overs left. Kent need a Notts player to come out and hit a quick 25-30 to get them over the line.

Can someone please explain how the West Indies are not in the circket World Cup ? I think I have missed something. Surprised that they are not competing albeit I am aware of their decline in fortunes.

They didn’t qualify. I don’t think it is a big sport in that part of the world now. Aren’t they mainly into American sports?

They're no longer ranked high enough to qualify automatically so have to go into a qualifying stage with the likes of Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands etc. They failed to qualify from that.

So Donald is moving on, to Derbyshire. It's disappointing in a way as we know what talent he has and how destructive he can be, but I think it's best for both parties. I'd rather have a steady solid top-order batter in the squad than someone like Donald or Whiteley who will come off only occasionally.
