It goes without saying that we didn't want to have lost Vince and Dawson tonight, but I'd rather see signs that the pitch is still doing something and balls are misbehaving, we don't want it to become 'dead' and get easier and easier to bat on. If that's the case then we'd probably need to set them nearer to 250 and I don't see that happening. I'd be happy with setting them around 200, thanks to a quick cameo 20-25 from Barker.

So by the end of the day, one of Lancs or Hants will be sitting around nervously tomorrow wating for the conclusion of Warwickshire v Somerset. I remember the conclusion to the 2016 season very clearly. Perhaps Warwickshire will set Somerset an inviting target in the hope that Somerset aim for victory and perhaps lose wickets in the process. We shall see.

Not if Warks fail to take max bowling points. Then it's entirely in Hampshire's hands.

TBF I would have taken Somerset 325-8 2 hours ago. They've taken another session out of the game and still have 2 wickets left.

With bad light around, it is perhaps one reason why Aigburth was chosen for this particular match as a breeeze blowing off the Mersey could help disperse the low cloud.

TBH, we're still no nearer to knowing who will win the title. I'd say Hants are very marginal favourites, followed by Warks and Lancs but all 3 are still very much in the hunt.
