There is very little which beats being successful in a tight, nervy, knock-out run-chase.

GTFI!!

Davies, CDG, Lintott, Garton, great stuff. Not the big boys of Mills, QDK and Vince for once.

All is forgiven and forgotten, Colin. A match winning innings in (essentially) a knock-out match more than makes up for averaging just four in the lead up.

TBF I don't think Vince knew his best attack and when to bowl his best bowlers. He was almost experimenting really. Now he's got a really settled team and bowling attack.

And we had nothing on the board to defend in that first match. Harsh to judge any bowlers when you've got world class batters in the opposition with absolutely zero scoreboard pressure.

Match two we were just done by Bairstow and Duckett. That can happen. (It could have happened again tonight, if Jacks just had that little bit extra experience/maturity to know that he didn't have to put every ball to the boundary.)

I think the best thing about CDG's innings was how he knuckled down. He basically copied Davies, in getting his head down and knocking the ball for singles. Barely chewed up any dots (a fault of Whiteley's in the past) and didn't just look to slog his first or second ball (his own biggest fault so far). Indeed, when he finally did nail that 6, it was almost out a character.

He gave himself a chance, probably for the first time so far. And boy did it pay off.
