Really odd time for Narine to be sent in. Although he was in before Billings fell he still entered in the "rebuilding phase". Invincibles are losing a fair few runs where Narine can't run those quick 2's.

Root is a great batsman but an abysmal captain. Needs to be replaced as captain.
Not disagreeing that Root made mistakes this morning, but he wasn’t the one actually doing the bowling. I actually blame the example set by Jimmy Anderson more than I do Root’s captaincy. He should have concentrated on his strengths, getting to move the ball off the seam off a length, rather than trying to bowl short to Sharma, Shami and Bumrah in revenge for what they did to him. The other problem was that Mark Wood was clearly injured and bowling below par.

I certainly agree with you about the batting, who wouldn’t? We obviously need a big shake up at the top of the order and the likes of Vince, Pope, and maybe a wild card like David Bedingham or Tom Abell surely deserve a shot.

Reactions: Brinkworth Saint
Get rid of Sibley and Hameed completely. They can't cut it at this level. Drop Sam Curran - showed no application with the bat which is quite frankly not acceptable. One golden duck I can understand but 2 in the same match is inexcusable for Curran, who is very capable with the bat. He needs to go away and decide if he is really committed to test cricket or just the shorter format. Give Crawley a shot at opening with Burns, bring Pope back in. I hate to say this but we're so ****ed without Ben Stokes.
Watching England is a bit like watching Saints, just when you think we've turned a corner, we lose all sense of knowing how to stay in the game and potentially win it, therefore once again providing a total illusion of being anything close to good, let alone excellent! Root abdicated his role as captain this morning.
