Middlesex must have the most spineless batting line-up.of any side in the County Championship. Whenever they face Abbott, they crumble. I know he is good but other sides make him fight for his wickets.
Middlesex 101 all out. Abbott with his 2nd 5 wicket haul, 11 in total for the match. Hampshire need 66 to win!
I doubt Hants will do this, but I would open with Holland and Alsop and have Vince at 3.Put Barker in as opener, he will get all the runs on his own!
Weatherley opening, Hampshire obviously not in a hurry!I doubt Hants will do this, but I would open with Holland and Alsop and have Vince at 3.
Play to restart at 6.45 pm with 8 overs to bowl. Hants really need to get the runs tonight with a dodgy forecast tomorrow.
Light is 100% umpire's call. I think if Hants needed a few runs to win they'd play on TBH.By my maths, Hampshire need 43 runs to win. Are we likely to try for more than 5 an over, tonight, or will we maintain a reasonable scoring rate, and hope to finish it tomorrow?
I don't pretend to understand the finer points of cricket, but I'm aware that the fielding side can ask for an extra half hour, if a result is likely. Firstly, is this true, and secondly, can the batting side ask for an extension, if, say, there are twenty ish runs to get?
Additionally, I don't think that the fielding side can appeal against the light, no matter how dark it becomes. Is this still the case?
We're trying to make it interesting - That's two down, now
