So Joe Root is not such a bad captain after all. Glad the players have managed to win the series in convincing style. Wood will be hard to drop but Sri Lanka will present different conditions.

As a suggestion, is it worth taking both Archer and Wood to Sri Lanka? England will want both fit and firing for the summer so would it be prudent to leave both out for this one?
Take both and rotate?

Leave Jimmy and Broad at home for SL.

Pick one of Wood and Archer for each test, alongside Stokes. Two seamers should be sufficient, alongside two (or three) spinners. But if we're desperate to pick a third seamer, then either Curran or Woakes so that they can also bat. A seamer might only bowl 5 overs in an innings, so there's little reason to be picking an out-and-out seamer alongside Wood/Archer.

I am thinking of their fitness. I think it would be better to let them recover now until the summer series begins. The way things are, England are overloaded in the pace bowling department. Who to leave out? As Anderson isn' t getting any younger and England have won the series without him, he is the one to leave out

Good luck to Jofra Archer as he spends the next few months recuperating. Wood also needs to be nursed carefully and it is not worth the risk taking him to bowl two overs of an innings in SL. Take an all spin attack!
