Well done Tom Alsop, that's another massively important knock, maybe try him as Opener/WK in the next match, Alec Stewart managed to combine the both jobs ok.

Not for his whole career. And he was pretty special.

Far too much to ask of Tom in my opinion. At least at this stage. There's absolutely no doubt that the opening spots are a huge problem for us.

Mitchell out for a golden duck is heaven.

We're going to win 2 games out of the last 3 and only taken 2 batting points from the whole 3 games!

Bowlers win you matches. If you have an attack that can take 20 wickets on a regular basis, you've always got a chance.

Being able to bat is just a nice position to be in!

Surprised to see we posted a reasonable score (compared to what it could have been), but shouldn't be because we have shown all through this series that we can bat down the order, whereas India rely greatly on their top 4.

If we could find an opening pair to match up to the golden days of Cook and Strauss it would take the pressure off the middle order, who are continually faced with a newish ball. But having a team with 4 or 5 all-rounders, while the purists hate it, has been our saving grace this summer.
