I’d question the management too for allowing it.
I doubt the medical team would have allowed him to play if they thought he was unfit to at least try .. He gave it a go , and I imagine the medical people said no IF he tried to go out again ?

I'm already prepared for the stick that will come our way in a few months, if/when we (Hants) leave Crane out. Just like we got last season too.
He played nearly all, if not all, of our matches from June onwards last year (when he was available). It's not our fault so many CC matches had already been scheduled.
It's not like we're actively trying to damage's either the lad's career, or England's prospects. It's just that English conditions don't demand an out-and-out spinner in the early months - especially away from home, when you know you can bowl first should you so wish.
At least Nasser and Atherton pointed the figure in the ECB's direction, rather than ours.
(I'm not having a go at the ECB here by the way. I actually don't have a massive issue at the scheduling. I'm having a go at those who criticise us for leaving Crane out.)
I agree , like I posted later , it was 57c out in the middle !
England win by 5 wickets.
I am with you....England had to score 20+ at a low rate (below 3 an over) and only 3 wickets down and I was feeling tense. I think it's the double whammy of being an England and a Saints fan. Seen defeat pulled from the jaws of victory too often. My god , I'm such a worrier , I embarrass myself !
