A proper rank innings from Weatherley. I wouldn't be against him being the one to make way once Prest is back.
Second time already this season that Wood has batted above Ellis, which I'm happy with. I didn't understand us regularly batting Ellis higher than him last season.
Against any other side, I wouldn't be giving us a chance of defending that. Miles under par. But against a team who have lost 6 out of 6, I'm not totally writing it off; they know how to lose.
We still have a chance with early wickets against this Middlesex team which is low on confidence. I know we wanted close to 200 but the annoying thing is we recovered and then threw it away again a bit. We've still left about 15 runs out there from the last 4 overs, not enough boundaries there.
I'm sure Middlesex will be very happy. But even so, it does seem odd that they didn't manage to bowl out Holman during those middle overs.
It goes to show what a disappointing signing Whiteley has been so far that that was, I think, his highest score for us so far. Twice he made 27 last season, but I can't see anything more than that.
