Also Britain hosted the Olympics in 2012. Ten years later, the commonwealth games are being hosted in this country ... The stars are aligned!
It's annoying that we let them off the hook at 104-7. But after losing the toss, in this weather, at the Bowl, I'd have snapped your hand off for 217. Granted, I haven't been watching until two overs ago, so I don't know how the pitch is playing. But from afar I'd have thought 400+ would have been par.
It's looking tough for Surrey to win their match and so it's imperative that Hants finish on the right side of a result. Tomorrow is massive and we have to cash in with the ball softening in great batting conditions and hopefully build a match winning lead.
Losing Vince was a blow. Any opposition taking two wickets with the new ball is acceptable; you give them that. But to lose a third, and for it to be Vince, was annoying. Hopefully Kyle can hang around for 20 minutes or so tomorrow. Help to get the ball to the 30 over mark. (Not that it seems to matter too much this season, so often do the balls get changed.)
What could/should have been a 150+ lead is now at risk of only being about 60. But Brown, Barker and Fuller are of course capable of pulling it back towards the former.
We need 26 off 7 overs for another point, I know it's not our primary concern right now, but it would come in useful
Being able to bat deep is so important if you want to fight for the championship. Even so Fuller at 10 is ridiculous! I know he was meant to come in at 9 but even so he's good enough to come in at 7.
