But this is why I'd have given Joe one more match. This is possibly the weakest attack we've faced so play, and it includes a reasonable amount of slow bowling - which Joe loves to slog sweep. Maybe, just maybe he could have scored a few tonight too.
Slightly ironic that the one match where we finally set Fuller a platform, is the one match where he can't find the middle of the bat.
Even though those last four balls weren't productive, that was a good contribution from Albert and Dawson. The middle order of Prest-Whiteley-Fuller didn't contribute anything (but at least they didn't chew up a million balls either: 9 off 9 is better than 20 off 20), so we were in danger of falling away. But Albert and Dawson have pretty much got us to where I was aiming for at half way.
One thing which was really impressed me about McDermott is his communication. When he wants the catch, he makes sure everyone in the ground can hear it.
Now we've got Ravi, we can hopefully look towards repairing some of our NRR damage. (If you look back at last season, everyone of course remembers that sensational NRR-improving run chase vs Glamorgan. But the only reason why that even had an outside chance of coming off is because of how we totally thrashed Somerset before that. By about 100 runs or something I think?)
Odd to give Fuller this over given that we've just bowled Mason. That means one of the main four won't bowl out now.
