I look forward to Abbas, Abbott and Barker giving Somerset's top order a torrid time with the new ball at the start of April. :)

Rarely have I looked forward to a new season more.

If Weatherley could finally break through properly in red ball cricket (like he did last year in white ball), we'd have an excellent looking red ball team. Donald is basically a new signing, alongside Brown.

Holland, Wheatherley, Gubbins, Vince, Brown, Donald, Dawson, Barker, Abbott, Crane (or Organ for matches where an out-and-out spinner isn't warranted), Abbas

Still the same openers that failed miserably last season, I do hope that Weatherley can make some scores this time but what are our alternatives if the top 2 consistently fail again?
Could Alsop or Prest come in?, there's good depth in all departments now.

Gubbins can open. But I'm not sure he will.

It's difficult to be sure of what order we'll go with though to be honest, because we don't yet know where Brown will bat. He can go anywhere between 3 and 7, which is largely because he's good enough to play regardless of whether he has the gloves or not.

Although I wouldn't agree with it, I wouldn't be totally shocked if Lewis started the season with the gloves; almost like we're giving one final chance, before we decide to take them from them. And that could mean having Brown higher up that order.

I can see so many of these WI players getting themselves a t20 blast contract this summer, off the back of this series.

Maybe even the 100 too for a few of them (outside of the more obvious names), albeit that possibly depends on the dates for the CPL and whether they'll be any clash.

Not that I know about how good the Afghan boys are with the bat, but my guess is that's a decent score for Prest's side.

Brave decision to bowl the leggie in the penultimate over, had bowled dross up till then, worked like a charm. On such decisions games are one and lost .. Captain's reputations forged. The Prest catch, backing up the decision, was exceptional.

Looks like Hants are seriously investing in "The Bowl". Nice if saints could do something similar

I didn’t realise that the roof at St Mary’s is apparently completely shagged (corroded by proximity to the water) hence why we didn’t get the screens in the end, allegedly. Wrong thread for this I suppose.

Anyway, cricket - The Rose Bowl is a world class venue Southampton can really be proud of, St Mary’s meanwhile is functional I guess.
