I'm certain that he's one of the 10 we'll want to retain. But I'd also expect him to ask for a significant increase in his salary bracket, or he'll move elsewhere next year.

How does it work next year then? Can only a max of 10 from each side be retained?

Yeah, maximum of 10 (can be less) plus your designated test player. (Out of anyone who at some point was part of your draft squad for 2021 - ie not necessarily just from the squad which you finish the tournament with.)

But you can still only have two players per each of the eight salary bands. And some of the players you'll want to retain will want an increase before they agree to stay. And other players you'll only want to retain if they agree to a decrease.

Need to get Benjamin.

So only half of each squad will be the same? That will add some fun variety

Who was out designated test player? Archer?

Are the bands up somewhere? I imagine we want to keep Mills as well?

I like the idea of the drafts and bands. Let’s be honest football should like that. The current structure isn’t truly a competition. Irrelevant as it can never happen and won’t ever happen unless the finances completely fall out of the game

It's only 15 players that each side ends up with after the draft (plus their designated test player). So anyone who retains their full 10 would be retaining two-thirds.
