Obvious securing the win is the most important thing. But coming away with a healthy NRR improvement would be no bad thing - as we well know, it could come down to that.

Gubbins might just be the greatest all-rounder in the history of cricket.

Or at least today at the Bowl.

If we're only going to give Dawson seven balls, his place in the team has to immediately come into question.

Through absolutely no fault of his own, he's only batted in the middle for two balls (vs Essex a week ago) in about the last month prior to today. Hence he'll be totally under-cooked with the bat, and so I wouldn't be expecting particularly good scores from him. Therefore, it needs to be his bowling which keeps him in the team. And bowling seven balls isn't that.

Fair play to us. Dawson indeed straight out.

Absolutely nothing against him at all. But the competition for the top three places is seriously tough, and that means needing to make quick, decisive decisions and not carrying players who you don't intend to fully utilise.

I'm not surprised to see Overton in. I always had him down as Archer's replacement.

I love all these country-country or county-county match-ups (eg Overton v Banton).
