Aren't England Test Matches returning to BBC at some time? It would be nice to watch a bit of cricket on free tv like in the good old days Weather forecast suggests there might only be 3 1/2 to 4 days play in this match Can England win it before the rain comes?
Live cricket on the BBC, as from this year, is two England t20 matches per year (which this year is the 2nd one vs Pakistan and the 2nd one vs Australia), and a handful of 100 matches per year (something like eight).
Shame that Jos ran out of time tonight. 21 August is the only day he's ever scored a test 100 before. Hopefully he can break that tomorrow instead.
Apparently we're in talks to sign George Munsey for the t20s. (He opens the batting in t20s for Scotland. Has had reasonable success, albeit generally against countries who aren't even county-level.)
Been busy all day and just watched the highlights. Zak Crawley has a fantastic future ahead, and it’s so good to see Jos back in the Test runs, and playing well within himself in support of Crawley. Can’t remember the last time England scored 300 on day 1 but it is their game to lose now.
A fantastic batting performance by Crawley, just a shame the Ageas Bowl was not full of supporters to witness it.
When was the last time England lost.a home series? Not lost a home series to Oz since 2004 or 05. I cannot think of a series loss in England since then. Brendy, Chilco?
I believe it was Sri Lanka series in 2014 when Anderson was dismissed off the penultimate ball of the 2nd test to give Sri Lanka a 1-0 win.
It's an amazing stat by itself. But even more than that, it's one of only two* home series which we've lost since Vaughan resigned the captaincy after losing at home to SA in 2008. Strauss, Cook and Root (and KP for about 5 mins), just the two home series defeats between them. (*The other being SA in 2012. Which also led to a captaincy resignation.)
The trick now would be to win in India, in the UAE against Pakistán and to win in Oz, which was last achieved by Fat Gatt's team, or not?
