Weatherley has come of age in this match, his confidence must be sky high now. Barker did well and what was required and it just needed someone to score with Weatherly anchoring it all.
Hmm, his first innings was great but I do think he scored far too slowly this morning. It took Barker hitting 28 off 34 balls to get us over the line. If Barker had got out cheaply we would have lost. But it's hard to be too critical of him when his runs did win us the match. Hoping Vince will be back for the next game.
I take the view that there is no run chase if Weatherley never anchored it...his job was to score 50 or 60 not out which he did.
It's about partnerships, without Weatherley there wouldn't have been any, in probably both innings.. Man of the match, no doubt.
Top win. I guess it shows why Middlesex are in D2. They were at full strength (they choose to leave out Finn and Roland-Jones, no-one made them) when you ignore the rarely-available Morgan, and they still lost to us - without some of our best players, or even a full 11 players.
Good early wicket for Anderson and another bad drop at slips for a relatively easy catch. Again the pundits are talking about the slips standing to close to each other with the wrong slip going for the catch.
And another simple slip catch put down. Pakistan should be regretting the decision to bat, but the dropped catches could end up vindicating the decision, if these two batsmen stay at the crease.
I think Pakistan have actually done alright so far - and yet we easily should have more than three wickets. Good bowling and good batting. (Poor fielding though!)
Thank god the BWT is just a bit of enjoyment, without any real meaning. Because with Barker and Dale out injured too, we're just a couple of batters short from being without an entire XI. Vince Donald Dawson Abbott Barker Stevenson Lyon Dale Fidel We're not just down to our reserves now, but the reserves of the reserves.
Essentially paternity leave. Sounds like they don't want to take any risks with a newborn on the way.
