I agreed with you but I am not so sure orhers would. I said as much before a ball was bowled in this test re Anderson, but some think I should have been carted off to the Tower for such a suggestion.

England often start with a loss and then turn into a super team when fans are ready to jump off the nearest bridge.

I understand the need to look at other players...if they look promising...but drop Broad !?!! He is still at his peak...not on a decline.

Just watched BBC2 programme about England winning the World Cup last year (also included Wimbledon men’s final). Seemed so long ago....I had forgotten all the details. Watching the crowds made me feel so wistful...so much cancelled this year.

Archer banned from 2nd test after breaching the bio-secure protocols. Moron.

Apparently happened during the drive from Southampton to Old Trafford in his own car....presumably he left his car when he wasn’t allowed to....for an unknown reason.

Which is not good news for the Windies if Anderson is called into the team. Facing Anderson is daunting enough, but in combination with Broad and 900 test wickets between them, that is frightening. Think the Windies would have found a way to cope with Archer, but facing this partnership together means there is no respite as they use their guile to whittle out the batsmen.

I can see that now. Hope Archer is OK after his mistake and is not completely lambasted by the press, as there are bigger fish to fry, such as the UK PM, than Jofra Archer. He is a young man, learning to play at the highest level and it would be awful if he was left out to dry. I am sure the England management and all cricket fans will forgive him just like we did with Botham and his "smoking pot."

That late 80s early 90s team had some characters, Beefy, Lamby, "Judge" Smith, "Biggles" Gower, Jack Russell, Fat Gatt, Goochie...ah the memories.

I can understand why WI opted to bowl but it's going to take a serious effort to get through England's line up.

Disciplined display from Sibley - very much looking a proper opening test batsman - think he could do well with Burns.

Does make you wonder how the Ashes would have gone last year, had Sibley been picked ahead of Roy. Even with Roy, we still got a draw...

Arguably the two stand-out four day batsmen last year were Sibley and Labuschagne...
