Benkenstein has left, sky reporting that it's bad news for Hampshire, personally I'm now ****ing delighted!
It's fantastic news. I, like others, have wanted him out for sometime now. And infact, only earlier this week I was thinking about ex-Hants players currently involved in coaching outside of the club. Pothas is at Leicester, as their academy director or something. Dimi is with Australia U19s (I think it's their U19s), having recently also been NZ's bowling coach. And McKenzie is SA's batting coach. But that's all I managed to come up with - and all three were only appointed in the last 12 months. Even in the media, you only really have Warne, Nicholas, Cork, Gower, and the occasional bit of Udal (not that this has any bearing on their coaching ability). So going down the ex-Hants route, like we did with Terry and then White, might not be an option (unless we gamble with someone untried). But Duncan Fletcher I believe remains unemployed after leaving India last year, and he did spend a season with us in a consulting capacity early on in White's time as coach (between Fletcher's stints with England and India). So whether that is something which Rod might look to explore?
Am I the only one who thinks the way MV Speaks to Henry is out of order ? He does nothing but take the piss out of him , I think Henry is wise to it , but even so !!!!
Alsop called into the England Lions squad for their final matches tomorrow and Monday. So if he and Dawson are to then play for us on Tuesday and Wednesday (where we will need to win at least one of them), they'd have played four one-day games in four days. Or if they don't play for us, then we'd go in without four frontline batsmen!
Worcs are 19-6. I don't think they'll be setting Warks much of a target. Looking at the four games in our group, it would be helpful if Essex were to beat Surrey, and Glamorgan were to beat Somerset. Gloucs-Sussex are both on two points and Middlesex-Kent are both on four points, so no real difference for us who wins those two.
