Well played by England in batting and bowling....a win we really needed. India kind of gave up a bit at the end...when you'd expect them to be more do or die.
And just to add to this, apparently this was our 10th consecutive ODI win at Edgbaston. (And whilst I haven't seen it confirmed, I'm almost certain that the Edgbaston SF will be on a fresh pitch just like today was. India v Bangladesh in two days time is also at Edgbaston, so that will almost certainly be on today's pitch. And there's no way they would play a SF on a pitch which has been used twice already.)
Kohli making suggestions that there was a very short boundary on one side to favour England...well he said he was sure that it was all coincidental, but we know what he meant. Surely that would only be a problem if we moved the pitch for the India innings. The truth is England played well throughout the team and India was a bit more of a mixed bag and basically gave up towards the end.
The game really takes shape now, with the Somerset spinners coming on. That should tell us whether they've read the pitch better than us. I'm hoping that the number of overs Weatherley bowled yesterday was because he was filling in for Crane, who was being torn apart - rather than a concession from us that spin is the way to go.
This is the partnership for Hampshire. If they can take us to the follow on target then suddenly we're in a good position.
Crane and a limping Alsop showing some fight at the end of the day. I suspect Alsop will swing the bat tomorrow. Or try to anyway.
