To be honest, I'd have taken anything over 240 once we lost Rilee. Let alone once we were 180-8. It's still a very poor score, and Somerset shouldn't fail to chase it. But at least it's something.
That partnership between Crane and Fuller opens the door for cup final nerves to set in for Somerset.
I'd normally give defending a sub 250 score a less than 10% chance but that partnership and a Lords final plus Somerset being perennial runners up factored in it is a bit higher than that.
Looking at what Fidel is doing now, it's a shame it took us 19 overs to decide that following Somerset's bowling plan might have been worthwhile. We had Fidel bowling when it should have been Berg and Wood in the powerplay (see Davey), and then had Berg bowling when it should have been Fidel and Fuller with four men out (see Overton).
Yes! First 50 over trophy since 2001! Magnificent from Banton and Hildreth, but the bowlers won it this morning.
Fairplay Somerset thoroughly deserved to win. We could have coped without Vince IMO but missing Dawson as well was the killer blow. Dawson has been such an influential player in the OD cup this season.
