Looks like Donald and Holland for Vince and Steyn. Would mean Abbott batting as low as 10 - quite useful, given our top order. I suspect we will nominate, before the toss, one of the batters to make way (maybe Weatherley) in the event that Vince doesn't make the test XI but is instead released by the ECB sometime on Thursday to join our match instead. (It's where the no-toss rule can potentially be manipulated. We know we'll bowling on day one, as the away team, should we so wish. So in theory we could nominate someone like Holland to make way, in the event that Vince is made available, and thus broadly improve our batting for two innings whilst only damaging our bowling for one innings.)
Kyle Abbott is back. 3 brilliant deliveries to dismiss Chopra, Westley and Bopara. He's getting the ball to nip back off the seam perfectly.
England all out for 246. Could have been a hell of a lot worse. Curran got 78....would have got more, but ran out of partners and couldn't risk running for singles and putting Anderson in.
Somerset recovering after losing the top 3 for 29, James Hildreth and Tom Abell coming to the rescue for the second time in the match to put on 92 so far. Lead now 200.
Blimey. Showing my age that I remember that, although I had forgotten about the “catch” for the fifth six. What a great player he was.
I remember it too, it was in the early days of televising county cricket and the cameras just happened to be present in Swansea that day. Geoff Boycott described Sir Garfield as the greatest batsman he ever saw, and he saw a few! Not a bad bowler either!
Four games left. Three of them against our closest three relegation rivals. Strap yourselves in, this could be a rollercoaster.
Pretty poor show that we couldn't save the game with 20 wickets and only 5 sessions left in the match. I love him, but I think Jimmy should join Slug at Derbyshire.
It was, yes. But that's an excellent Essex bowling attack. Worcs next week for example don't come anywhere close in comparison.
