Took a long time to reach the wrong decision, but I have seen similar things go in our favour. All down to the Umpire calling it out....they have to have clear evidence to over rule him. Looked not out to me too, but I have little influence.
I thought it was out. With Roots reaction I was willing the pictures to show it hit the ground but for me his fingers were under it. Soft signal out. Definitely had to be given
From the BBC. Between 1938 and 2016 England were never bowled out in a session. It is the third time in last two years it has happened.
I wasn't keen on the suggestion of promoting Root and Bairstow up to 3 and 5 respectively, and their general scores since have somewhat illustrated that. The sooner they're back to 4 and 6, the better in my view. (It also means that Pope can be given the chance to settle into his England career at no.5, rather than being thrusted in at no.4 - which is higher than he even bats in county cricket.)
