259 to survive. About 200 more than I'd have confidence in.

Must admit , although I love listening to TMS commentary on cricket etc , I am no expert .

When I read posts from yourself , Tom , Ides etc , a lot of it goes right over my head . So I will sadly agree with you that it seems we are getting relegated .

If there was any justice, Notts and Northants should go up with Worcester to be replaced by the already relegated Warwickshire, and Hampshire (not really good enough batting wise since August) and Middlesex who have been appalling all season. Defensive batting cricket backed up by a very unpenetrative attack. How they could do with a star spinner there. As things stand, one of them is deservedly getting relegated assuming Somerset can get the win tomorrow. Hope Taunton dries out quickly, unlike Uxbridge where Hampshire were deprived of some crucial bonus points which could have made all the difference.

I am not an expert Numero 1 J, Tom and Brendy most certainly are.

Oh Jimmy.....:emoticon-0183-swear

Shame to lose him just before tea (and he had already been dropped), but overall I'll take that little eight over spell. Given our form with the bat, it could have been a whole lot worse.

Alsop has looked very secure, so far.

Can it rain for another 24 hours?....please...<wizard>

I've not got much hope of that (at Edgbaston or Taunton), but you never know if this rain - today and tonight - might soak the outfield of one or both grounds. Won't be much sun tomorrow to help the drying out process.
