Wonderful display by Middlesex to get within 190 runs of the target set by Warwickshire. How can a team be very good one season, and with the same group of players, so abysmal the next? Outside chance of a Middlesex relegation.

Next round of matches. At the end of August and four weeks in September when by the second week, play ends early because of the bad light. Maybe the final few rounds should be played in Gibraltar, Malta, Dubai and elsewhere where the outcome is not going to be determined by bad light and the autumn rains. It really does show that the longer version of the game is vey peripheral to the one day diet. Essex must be happy to have the points on the board given this scenario.

McManus and Rilee both out for the season with broken fingers.

A blow of course, but not massive. Neither have been contributing much in the CC (and besides, Essex are almost too far away to catch, and we may only need one more win to secure survival). Not having Rilee to open in the t20s is probably the biggest blow - particularly if Carberry continues to be out for much longer. Might see Will Smith recalled for one or both formats.

I agree with you! Maybe one more win and 3 or 4 draws will be more than enough for Hampshire to survive.. Talking of survival, I do wonder if the T20 has helped Warwickshire as they have been playing well in that format of the game. So it gave them confidence to wipe the floor with Middlesex.

Dickinson looks very handy behind the stumps. Now the question is can he bat?

Silly and naïve shot from Dickinson. No need to do that.
