I'm guessing Fletcha will come in for Varma for the rest of the competition. So maybe they thought against dropping Prest just for one game only. It's possible that we might see Albert for the odd game, in which case Prest's position would come under debate again. But there's no certainty on that front.
H 37 - 2 8 overs Tilak ducked. H 115 - 4 24'1 Overs Weatherley retired hurt. H 194 Innings closed. Lost by 5 wickets
Great timing, turn on the live stream and the first ball Gubbins gets given out lbw to one that was going down the leg side. Weatherley retired not out (hurt) after getting hit on the left hand, I hope he can come back later on. The white ball stuff is his best suit and he's actually been in good form lately, as we know.
If it's bad, perhaps he can pretend that the shock of the impact caused his arm to flail into his head, giving him a concussion. Then we can substitute Middleton in!
Clearly Weatherley has broken something if he isn't returning to bat which will put him out of the T20 QF. While not a catastrophic blow like losing Vince it doesn't help.
Hmm, so no Varma or Weatherley probably for the rest of the One-day Cup either. So Middleton and one other to come in, probably Brown and Mayes to play as a batter only? That's assuming we don't get Albert back, of course. I note that Eckland has been playing some games for Gloucs 2nd XI recently (including today) so, whilst not certain, perhaps they don't rate him and he's on his way out.
So close to six Brave wins from six. Losing Jordan was a blow, but I think only two boundaries came from the 15 balls which he wasn't able to bowl. So in that sense, it maybe didn't cost us too badly - albeit a lack of any wickets in those 15 balls wasn't helpful. Probably the bigger cost will be how many games he now misses. Thompson will be a closer like-for-like replacement than Topley. The 10 balls which Santner and Rashid bowled, 80-90, were the key. Zero boundaries scored. We were on for something like 155 to 160, so to only get 139 left the door just slightly open for them. Anyway, now to watch Baker and Currie hopefully bowl well again.
Good to see Wheal back for Hants. With both him and Abbott in the squad for tomorrow's match we should have a much better bowling attack.
I'm guessing it will be Kelly who makes way (as the third change). But potentially it could be Neal instead. It'll be interesting if/when we announce our second overseas player for the Championship next month, as to whether they might also play in the back-end of the 50 over matches. I'm hoping Weatherley's injury isn't too serious. Obviously it was bad enough that he couldn't come back out yesterday (or play tomorrow). But he did initially carry on for a few balls, which maybe suggests it's not serious.
I don't know what the biggest margin of victory is in terms of runs in the OD Cup but whatever it is it may be coming under threat at Chelmsford. Essex racked up 417-6 and Surrey are 69-5 in reply!
Baker called up to the ODI squad...which clashes with the t20 QFs! And to really rub it in, it's Potts who has made way. So two big wins for Durham.
**** Baker's been named in the ODI squad for the SA series. While that is fantastic news for him, we'll surely be without him for the Durham QF. Hopefully Dawson will be available for that game though as the T20 series doesn't start until after then.
