Well that ended up being rather a dull game with the pitch behaving in the opposite direction to what they had planned, I feel. It just got deader and deader with absolutely nothing in it for the bowlers. I agree that Middleton does need a score soon and I too like the idea of trying Orr in the middle order, with Albert up to open.
Shame it fizzled out into a tame draw but there were some absolutely fantastic finishes elsewhere going right to the wire, CC cricket at its best and that's why I love it.
Liam Dawson in line for long-awaited England recall at 35 Could mean him missing the four-day game vs Sussex, and up to four Blast matches.
While I'd be very happy for him, that would be a huge blow. I mean, who on earth would be our spin option in the T20? Organ? Prest? This is why I wanted a spinner as one of our overseas signings.
On the plus side it means more chances of us preparing roads and raining sixes from Vince, Pretorius, Brevis and co.
What about the balance of the Championship side as well? I mean Organ will have to take over as the main spinner but we probably need to strengthen the batting as well. Would Fuller for Baker be enough? i.e. Stoneman, Middleton, Gubbins, Albert, Prest, Brown, Organ, Hampton, Fuller, Abbott, Wheal
TBF it's only 1 CC match. I guess it will depend on the pitch but I'm reluctant to take Baker out as his pace can be important.
Hampton's not even made it into the named squad for the Notts game. It's the 11 who played against Durham plus Fuller and the return of Turner. Middleton gets another chance despite Orr's recent big century for the 2s.
I'm going to assume Fuller for Organ will be the only change. Trent Bridge isn't really known for taking spin.
Good news that Duckett and Tongue are both not available. I guess the ECB consider this too close to the Zimbabwe test. If Mo ends up running through our batting line-up, then we'll be getting what we deserve.
