So the BBC has produced an article on who should be the next captain. Interestingly. in the vote at the bottom, 30% of voters, the largest share, think Vince should be England's white ball captain. I can certainly see the logic especially if he packs in red ball cricket for good. Problem is he hasn't played for England since 2023.
If they were to choose separate white ball captains, then I wouldn't be shocked to see Vince get the 50 over captaincy. There's ample scope to get him into the XI. But I don't see the selectors ever turning back to Vince for t20 because there are so many top order options, almost all of whom are younger. Brook as the t20 captain. Vince as the 50-over captain. It's possible - but unlikely.
Difficult to see anyone stopping India. The advantage they have from playing all five games (assuming they make the final) at the same ground is huge. Particularly when it favours spin.
Ridiculous. They should have been told play in Pakistan or don't play at all. The amount of power the BCCI have is ridiculous.
Think OZ will have other ideas particulary when they get Kohli out cheaply again. I feel it is going to be Australia v South Africa. in the final. Personally, I wouldn't mind SA winning the entire competition.
NZ have done well to recover to that score. But I suspect they're still about 30 short. I'd be surprised if India don't chase this.
For me, NZ play very intelligent cricket! Would love them to have five match test series against England, or are NZ not quite the box office of India or Australia?
Interesting pick by the Brave first up - Michael Bracewell. Happy enough with that. Good all round cricketer and we needed another spin option.
He is. But I rate Rachin higher than him. I'd have definitely picked Rachin to bat at no.4 and be our second spinner. I guess Bracewell is better suited to the finishing role than Rachin.
Yeah Rachin is a top 3 player and our top 3 is sorted. Rachin is a fantastic cricketer but Bracewell is more useful for what we need specifically I would say - his bowling is probably better as well.
The other option I considered was to go big on a domestic batter - probably Lawrence - and then get our third overseas player later. By going with the overseas first, it could be slim pickings amongst domestic players when we come to pick next. Maybe someone like Hose. Or a return for Davies.
Topley is a greedy pick rather than a logical pick. Arguably the best player left in the draft, but hardly our most pressing position.
