Get to 650 at tea, and then declare? Might even be able to get close to 700, if we really put the foot down (and don't get bowled out) - probably wishing too much there though! If the pitch is as flat as it appears, then you want to set the FO target at 400 minimum. But a 500 target would be very nice. Another great session, so far.
I might be tempted to go a little past tea, just so their openers have to at least start a sixth session in the field. Also good to keep them guessing and give them as little time as possible to prepare to bat.
Not a bad shout. And as Mark Church has rightly pointed out, when Surrey came down us last season they went on beyond the point you'd have expected. To the extent that we basically gave up caring about bowling, Batty helped himself to a 100, and our heart wasn't really in it when it came to batting - and an innings defeat resulted.
Third new ball only nine overs away, so would be nice if we just put our foot down now. Especially with part-time spinners on.
Good first ever FC 50 for Holland. Flat pitch and poor attack yes, but hopefully the start of something good career-wise.
The batting today went as well, if not better, than what I was aiming for. Adding four wickets to that with the ball was the dream, but never really realistic. Because it's Stoneman (who, with no Sanga, is their best batter) I think we probably can accept just the one wicket, but if we're to force a result, we're going to need two or three wickets in the morning session tomorrow (one of which should be fairly straight forward, you would hope).
