Oscar? How did he start out? Was he an out and out fast bowler when starting out, who then took a leaf out of Lillee and Malcolm Marshall's book and varied his pace with disguise? If so, it helped him steer clear of serious injury, thus prolonging his career.
I see Archer is back! I hope for his own sake he can get back to full fitness and deliver on the promise we have seen previously!
The question I asked is, "Was Anderson a genuine fast bowler at the beginning of his career, and then became fast medium with deadly accuracy, or was he always just fast medium which has enabled him to have a long career?
As Oscar posted a tribute about the soon to retire Anderson, it is possible he is a big fan and perhaps can answer my query!
Gotcha, he only posts on this thread. I was confused because Ides quoted Jasper rather than his post.
Me culpa! It was Jasper's post! Now your are a cricketing fan perhaps you are able to answer my Question about Anderson that i.asked "Oscar" alias Jasper!
My recollection of Jimmy’s early career is that he was never an all-out speed merchant, just a very clever fast medium bowler who mastered the art of swing.
