Hales needs to open the batting for England in all formats for a while now. Taylor should also be an ODI and test regular.

Mitchell Johnson will retire from all international cricket at the end of today's test against New Zealand. Ross Taylor was out for 290, the highest score by non Aussie in Australia ever, beating the record set by an English player in 1903. Warner scored big as well, great achievement by both players, but for me, lower scoring games often offer more excitement.

The best games always have a bit more balance between bat and ball. Large scores usually mean that the bowlers are having a torrid time and are probably exhausted near the end...just wishing for death to claim them (or for the batsman to step on his stumps)/

Taylor has really set the cat amongst the pigeons now. The selectors should be ashamed it's taken them so long to give him chances.
