England 40/1 off 6 overs in the first ODI v NZ. Roy got a golden duck but Hales and Root look good.

A good win for Hampshire, hopefully kick on from here now.

A couple of easier tests against Somerset and Worcestershire to come in the next three as well.

No game is easy in Div 1. We got comprehensively outplayed by Worcestershire at the Ageas Bowl - we would have lost had it not rained.

England post 408/9 - their highest ever ODI score! Buttler with a quite sensational century.

Yay, a four day win! Well done guys.

Shame that we'll now be losing Fidel to the CPL for a month or two (well, after Friday's t20, I think). But hopefully Bird we improve now that he's got a few overs under his belt (similar to how Fidel has improved since his debut vs Yorks), and we wont miss Fidel too much.

Fair play to Terry. I'm still not sure about him, but his second innings score means he deserves to keep his place ahead of Dawson for our next game.

England bowl New Zealand out for 198 in just 31.1 overs and win by 210 runs. That's our largest-ever ODI winning margin.

I woke from my man flu slumber to check their innings at 160-4 after 23 overs and thought "blimey, they might even do it"

I've now just checked again and they only last 30 odd more runs!

Kent v Hampshire tonight. Had tickets to go but can't make it now. Should be a good game, could go either way.

Kent have always been a bit unpredictable, in fact in the past following Kent was a bit like supporting Southampton. Saints seem to have turned a corner, hopefully Kent can too.

Kent
  1. Yellow warning of rain
    From:
    0100 on Fri 12 June
    To:
    0900 on Sat 13 June
Updated 11 June at 12:39 Active
    Warning
Isolated severe thunderstorms are likely to develop overnight Thursday into Friday bringing the risk of torrential downpours through Friday. These will be succeeded by a band of more widespread heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms, moving gradually north later on Friday and into Saturday, affecting much of the highlighted region into Saturday morning before becoming lighter. The public should be aware that there is a chance of some very localised significant disruption, mainly from surface water flooding. Lightning and hail could also cause some impacts
Hopefully it misses.

Check the forecast for Canterbury. It's generally fine.

Generally, if the BBC Android app for weather forecasting is a yardstick for the progress made in the art/science then we haven't come on that far in the last 50 years. The app changes its little data recommendations upto half a dozen times during the actual day. It occasionally manages to be wrong even in settled weather. As to actually forecasting the weather from several days previous [ie, what you want it for so that you can plan], it is often laughably inaccurate. This is, of course, for Southampton. I can't speak for the accuracy outside the area. Those at Weather Centre still cannot seem to work out that the Test Valley is a microclimate and has hugely different weather to the surrounding districts of the South. As nobody has a forecasting app that is any better, I don't change it though. And it is a minor entertainment.
