Are you talking about the "chance" at short leg for Taylor? That was a very, very sharp chance. If he caught that it would have been a miraculous catch. I don't think we can call that one a chance, let alone a drop. He didn't have any time to react.

Looks like this game may be heading for a draw. Catches win matches.

The only chance of a draw not happening is if SA can get a lead of 100 and skittle us. And that is very very unlikely of course. Dropping Amla has cost us the game.

    Yes .

I am not TOO worried about the rest of the series though , This has given the SA team a huge boost morale wise , I still think we are the better team overall ,De-Villiers is the Danger man IMHO . Now watch us lose the last 2 matches ;-)

I think we need to start worrying about saving our front-line bowlers for the next 2 games. We've bowled 184 overs in this innings now

Their team looks weak to me on paper. I think we will be hard to beat in the series

Agree about the bowlers , though like Tom pointed out , bit of a break before the next game .

I wonder if this lads got any English Connections ?

We just don't want to bowl someone in to getting an injury in this one!

    Wow 1009. That's laughable <laugh>

I wonder what the standard of the bowling and fielding was though <laugh>

I also wonder how long the boundary was. It must have been a tiny ground. It looks like he got 1009 off 327 balls. Obviously still a remarkable innings. But I think there's more to it than meets the eye.

    They shouldn't have declared!

Agree about the risk of Injury in this game . Slightly off topic , what do you think of Vaughan as a commentator ? I think he changes his mind far to often ,, and he shows a complete lack of respect to the other TMS team , much prefer Swann .

Eh? He's never shown a lack of respect from what I've heard.

I've not heard them commentate in a long time. I watch all my cricket on sky these days. For commentary/analysis I like Bob Willis, Atherton, Hussain, Ponting, Mark Butcher, Rob Key, Ian Ward . I may have forgotten someone. But if I have it's only one or two. When I've read Vaughan's opinions about cricket in the past I've tended to agree with him, but I haven't read his stuff for a long time in all honesty.

I wouldn't say I dislike any of the commentators/pundits on sky by the way. They are all ok. Gower is probably the only one that annoys me. I just like the ones I mentioned above more than the others.

    Fair enough :)

I do think Boycott is far better on the radio than TV .

Cricinfo says the side got 31 and 74 in reply in that school game to lose by an innings and 1362.

It's safe to say the kids he was playing against were all most likely playing cricket for the first time in a proper match. 31 on what is almost certainly a tiny boundary and rock-hard bare outfield from the pictures I've seen is rather laughable. 1009 is still mind blowing of course

Anderson and Broad are still absolutely steaming in <laugh>

To be fair they've only bowled 63 overs between them out of the 195 overs. But I'm surprised they are still steaming in considering the score

Yes another drop. Should have taken that. Not easy, but I expect keepers to be taking that at test level. England need to be careful here. It won't be nice if SA can build a lead of 150 and declare with 2 sessions and a half sessions left. Hopefully we can get the last four out quickly.

Thinking about it SA can't actually lose from here. England aren't going to be able to get enough runs to declare until there's only about a session and a half yet. They should probably declare once they reach England's score and try to bowl England out cheaply. It depends whether they want to get the lead first or chase the target down. If they don't declare they need to treat it like the last 5 overs of a t20 once they reach England's score

My one and only competitive school match aged about 13, ended with us all out for 11. I top scored with 4 (yes, an edge that made the boundary as I tried to get out the way) :)

We knew things were going to be bad, when they came out in whites, with white jumpers and school colours on the trim. We just took our ties off.
