I'm a bit lucky as she isn't too bothered about the footy. She spends the day shopping with her sister. <laugh>

I didn't realise how expensive religion was until I got married. The vicar, the organist, the bell ringers, the lady who put the flowers out, the church cleaners; they all wanted their palms crossed with silver.

My wife acknowledges our anniversary with my Mastercard. I normally take her out for dinner and she tells me what she's bought herself on my card.

Usually a handbag that must be made from the skin of extinct animals going by the price.

Have no desire to get married. Costs too much and my track record of relationships means it would be over before I've paid off the rental on the suit.

An ex of mine wanted to have a "monthaversary". When I pointed out that anniversary is called it because the "ann" is short for "annual" (**** knows if it is but it sounds right) she looked at me stupidly, obviously confused. Binned her off quickly

My ex wife got me into loads of debt, took me years to get out of it. I would come home she'd have just bought things like TV's sofas etc. One day I get home and there's a new Rover 220 on the drive. When we split up she told me to come get my car, she had bought the car in my name and forged my signature in some dodgy car sales place. I looked at the paperwork told my wife that she will be taking over the car ownership or I'll be ringing the police. ****ing nut job.

I wouldn't marry again either. I've not had a bad experience, but I don't think marriage is really any sort of advantage anymore.

It's a legal obligation without any benefits. What you can do in a marriage you can do as two single adults. Marriage doesn't really serve a purpose anymore ... Beside making you pay a lot of money if it ever ends.

My mate got married at 50 for the first time because his 2 very young lads were getting comments at school. Seemed a good idea at the time to him.

His divorce last year at 63 cost him half a million and over a grand a month.

Being married or unmarried wouldn't have changed those figures.

Besides common law marriage (which isn't legally a thing in the UK, but is where I live)

Being unmarried he would not have been legally obligated to pay alimony. Child support yes. But if I were ever to be single again I wouldn't have children with any other future woman so that wouldn't be an issue.

No, he wouldn't have been legally obligated. But life isn't ever straightforward. He's still got his 2 lads, now teenagers who'd have grown up with distorted comments and behaviour from a vindictive bitch and which would have clouded their relationship with their dad.

He'd also watched my divorce. The similarities were uncanny.

He figured half a mill was worth it sharing custody of his boys. And they now grow up seeing both sides. Like my boys, they're not stupid.
