USS Cassin Young (DD-793), a Fletcher-class destroyer, was a ship of the U.S. Navy named for Captain Cassin Young (1894–1942), who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism at the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and who was killed in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in the fall of 1942.
Cassin Young (DD-793) was launched 12 September 1943 by Bethlehem Steel Corp., San Pedro, California; sponsored by Mrs. C. Young; and commissioned 31 December 1943, Commander E. T. Schrieber in command.
After serving in World War II, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Battle of Okinawa, the Cassin Young continued in active service until 1960. She is preserved today as a memorial ship, berthed at Boston Navy Yard in Massachusetts, across from the old warship the USS Constitution.

The Marlin Model 795 is a .22 LR semi-automatic rifle produced by Remington arms of Mayfield, Kentucky formally by Marlin Firearms Company of North Haven, Connecticut. Air Canada Flight 797 was a scheduled trans-border flight that flew on a Dallas/Fort Worth-Toronto-Montreal route. On 2 June 1983, the aircraft developed an in-flight fire behind the washroom that spread between the outer skin and the inner decor panels, filling the plane with toxic smoke. The spreading fire also burned through crucial electrical cables that knocked out most of the instrumentation in the cockpit, forcing the plane to divert to an alternative landing field. Ninety seconds after the plane landed and the doors were opened, the heat of the fire and fresh oxygen from the open exit doors created flashover conditions, and the plane's interior quickly became engulfed in flames, killing 23 passengers who were yet to evacuate the aircraft.
As a result of this accident, aviation regulations around the world were changed to make airplanes safer, with new requirements to install smoke detectors in lavatories and emergency lighting leading to exit doors, and increased fire fighting training and equipment for crew members.
At the time of the accident, Air Canada had 41 McDonnell Douglas DC-9-32 in its fleet (excluding the accident aircraft).

The Remington Model 799 is a bolt action repeating hunting rifle made by Serbian Zastava and branded under Remington Arms. The action is based on a modified Mauser 98 action.[3] Before it was marketed by Remington Arms, a much more cheaper and generic version was sold by Charles Daly at a much cheaper price. Charles Daly also offered barreled actions that were. According to Charles Daly Remington offered the maker of these 'mini-Mausers' a much better deal for the rifle.[citation needed]
 
Like the Atari 400 computer, the 800 was designed by a team which included Jay Miner, who later went on to help design the Amiga 1000.

In 1983, Atari released the 800XL computer. It has the same CPU as the Atari 800, and runs at the same speed. Basically a cheaper version of the 800, it is supposed to be compatible with all Atari 800 software and peripherals, but it isn't.

In 1976, while Roxy Music had temporarily disbanded, 801 (also referred to as THE 801) got together as a temporary project and began rehearsing at Island Studios, Hammersmith, about three weeks before their first gig. The name of the band was taken from the Eno song "The True Wheel", which appears on his 1974 solo album Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy). The refrain of the song -- "We are the 801, we are the central shaft" -- reportedly came to him in a dream (although it has also been noted that "Eight Nought One" acrostically spells his name).
801 performed three critically highly acclaimed concerts: in Norfolk, at the Reading Festival and the final concert on 3 September at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall. This last concert was recorded live and released as the album 801 Live. The music consisted of more or less mutated selections from albums by Manzanera, Eno, and Quiet Sun, plus a full-scale rearrangement of Lennon-McCartney's "Tomorrow Never Knows" and an off-the-wall excursion into The Kinks' 1964 hit "You Really Got Me".
Released at the height of the punk rock revolution in the UK, the LP was not a major commercial success, but it sold well throughout the world, particularly because it gained rave reviews from critics, both for the superb performances by the musicians and for its groundbreaking sound quality.

Fans come here to wolf down large Nigerian-style portions of cowfoot, spiced chicken gizzards, fish pepper soup, jollof rice and some excellent whole-baked fish. Our dishes were a little hit-and-miss. Tilapia with fried plantain and jollof rice was beautifully cooked, but chicken thighs in tomato sauce was disappointingly dry. Salad garnish dressed in salad cream was a little unexpected too.


I wonder if they washed them down with a nice Chianti......
 
North American area code 806 is a state of Texas telephone area code for numbers in the Texas Panhandle and South Plains, including the cities of Amarillo and Lubbock. 806 was created as a flash-cut sometime during 1957, but available databases do not indicate from which area code it was split, as all original area codes were created in October 1947. Based on proximity, however, it was probably split from the 915 area code. In a message posted to the Telecom Digest mailing list and newsgroup comp.dcom.telecom, Carl Moore reports that this area code was created mostly in part from area code 915 as well as a small part from area code 817.
