Hi anti. Crouchy's header was rather good actually, and he didn't really celebrate in front of our fans which was decent of him. Hope we bounce back Saturday in the league against Newport County. Rain and sun today, although they have forecast better weather for next week.

Inside the Court of Louis XIV, 1671
The seventy-two year reign of Louis XIV was marked by an opulent extravagance best exemplified by the construction of his palace at Versailles in 1682. Here, the entire French nobility was expected to take residence and to participate in elaborate ceremonies, festivals and dinners. Louis' motivation was not based solely on his desire to have a good time but was a means of simultaneously controlling the nobility, reducing their power and watching for any potential rivals.

Greetings Woopert - more rain but some sun for the weekend - onset of a cold so will try to drown tonight at darts failing that will repeat procedure until it goes - any plans for weekend mine will include a visit to the docs as one of the possums I hand feed gave me a nip whilst grabbing some grub so looks like a precautionary jab for moi - ATB

1672 Farthing of Charles II
The farthings of Charles II were the first regal issues of copper coins to be struck at the Royal Mint, first issued in 1672. Previous copper farthings had either been struck under licence privately, or as tokens issued by local merchants.
These coins also marked the first time that the image of Britannia appeared on British coins since Roman times. It was rumoured that the model for Britannia used on the reverse was none other than Frances Teresa Stewart, one of King's many mistresses, who later became the Duchess of Richmond.

As long as it wasn't Saint Possum who bit you <laugh> Hope you win a plump bird at Darts. Going over to Fratton Park (so amusingly described by Channon on another thread !) on Saturday for the match, otherwise reasonably quiet hopefully. Have a good weekend.

The Battle of Khotyn or Battle of Chocim was a battle held on the 11 November 1673, where Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth forces under hetman Jan Sobieski defeated Ottoman Empire forces under Hussain Pasha. It reversed the fortunes of the previous year, when Commonwealth weakness led to the signing of the Peace of Buczacz, and allowed Jan Sobieski to win the upcoming royal election and became the king of Poland.

Agreed was an amusing piece would have given him credit directly but he is a bit of a knob about this thread but it doesn't stop him inputting to it - ATB

The Treaty of Westminster of 1674 was the peace treaty that ended the Third Anglo-Dutch War. Signed by the Netherlands and England, it provided for the return of the colony of New Netherland to England and renewed the Treaty of Breda of 1667. It also provided for a mixed commission for the regulation of commerce, particularly in the East Indies.

Apparently Kate Bush's concerts in London have been well received, you will be pleased to know - although she hasn't been signing all of her hits like Babooshka and Wuthering Heights. Have a good weekend <ok>

Shark 1675 Bath
A bath the whole family will love. Beautifully designed with generous proportions, it's comfort the whole family will enjoy. Complete with a four tile flange for built-in installation. A Sure Step option is available.

Hey Woopert - read the review and saw a couple of photos - she has been in a good paddock but still is luverly the effects and staging were supposedly good - her performing Babooshka in thigh boots etc at her stage would have been something to see still reckon she would have carried it off - no plump bird last night just the same old one when I got home ATB

In Articles of Peace, published in London in 1677, the British government formalizes what became known as the Treaty of Middle Plantation, signed on May 29, 1677. Following the violence against Virginia Indians that accompanied Bacon's Rebellion (1676–1677), several tribes, formerly part of the paramount chiefdom Tsenacomoco, reunited under the authority of the Pamunkey chief Cockacoeske and promised fidelity to the Crown in exchange for its protection.

Evening Woopert - Nip healing nicely - definite lack of participation on your board no match thread one comment to yours everyone must have had the weekend off - see Lappers didn't post a prediction although has been around during the week - I can tell you he can easily catch up as so far predictions have been a disaster for all - lovely sunny morning just about to demolish a bacon egg and baked bean sanger then cook some grub for my dad then its off to the footy followed by - yup you guessed it a truck load of delicious amber fluid enjoy your sunday ATB

Jul 12th, 1679 - Britain's King Charles II ratifies Habeas Corpus Act allowing prisoners right to be imprisoned to be examined.

Good Afternoon anti - Had a nice carvery lunch overlooking Wootton Creek, that cheered me up after yesterday's debacle at Fratton Park ! Nice weather today over here. Hope it lasts the week.

In 1680 the Pueblo Indians organized a revolt under the leadership of Pope' and killed two thirds of Spanish missionaries. This drove the Spaniards out of New Mexico and into present day El Paso.

Gooday Woopert - well first day of spring has sprung and a tasty sunny 23 degrees - another bloody cold am really over them - lunch sounded very pleasant and what was wrong with the taffs on Saturday sounds as if they got a bit bolshy - quiet week this week some fertilizing in the garden with Sunday being fathers day when both fruits of my loins will appear and shower me with gifts - ATB

Sep 4th, 1682 - English astronomer Edmund Halley sees his namesake comet.

Evening anti. Apparently the Newport fans put a couple of Pompey fans, including a young girl (hit by a thrown bottle) in hospital - revolting animals. Nice day today. Transfer window just closed. We have seen one player depart. See Saints have let Gaston Ramirez go off on loan. Have a good day.

Battle of Vienna 1683
The Battle of Vienna took place on September 12, 1683 after Vienna had been besieged by the Ottoman Empire for two months. The battle broke the advance of the Ottoman Empire into Europe, and marked the political hegemony of the Habsburg dynasty in central Europe.

Evening Woopert - yes Gastons gone didn't quite cut the mustard shame I thought he was work in progress - drizzly morning sunshine to come - BornPompey reckons you got 2 not 1 in the prediction game - buggered if I can find it - you ? - didn't see Welbeck going to Arsenal bit of a surprise - ATB

Dec 10th, 1684 - Isaac Newton's derivation of Kepler's laws from his theory of gravity, contained in the paper De motu corporum in gyrum, is read to the Royal Society by Edmund Halley.

G'day anti - Sadio Mane looks an interesting signing. Not heard of him before, but he appears to have an eye for goal. Nice weather today. Can't see anything wrong with my score, and Born Pompey has said he probably got it wrong. Arsenal had to sign a decent striker from somewhere, so Welbeck could do well for them. Have a good day <ok>

The first of its kind in Versailles, the sumptuous reception of the Doge of Genoa in the Hall of Mirrors by Louis XIV demonstrated the new political dimension given to the Château. The king was then at the summit of his glory and power.

Hey Woopert - wind and dampness overnight was a bit iffy outside as well - couple of palm branches came down on the roof with a cry of "mop and bucket to the bedroom" frightened the life out of moi - our lot certainly have a cosmopolitan feel about them this season - taking the bride to Sydney today to get measured up for a new lens and cataract removal which will be good the only downside is she might see me in my true light with clear vision - hope you get to enjoy an Indian summer - ATB

Jul 17th, 1686 - A meeting takes place at Lüneburg between several Protestant powers in order to discuss the formation of an 'evangelical' league of defence, called the 'Confederatio Militiae Evangelicae', against the Catholic League.

Evening anti. Our lot won at Yeovil tonight in the Paint Pot Trophy, with a good performance, especially from the younger players. Back to the league on Sunday away to Burton. Hope your good lady has a successful trip to Sydney. I'm sure with her improved eyesight, she will still find you totally adorable ! I too hope we get an Indian Summer - that would be great.

The Glorious Revolution, also called the Revolution of 1688, was the overthrow of King James II of England (James VII of Scotland and James II of Ireland) by a union of English Parliamentarians with the Dutch stadtholder William III of Orange-Nassau (William of Orange). William's successful invasion of England with a Dutch fleet and army led to his ascending of the English throne as William III of England jointly with his wife Mary II of England.

The new image from Hubble is one of the best ever views of the massive galaxy cluster Abell 1689, and shows the phenomenon of gravitational lensing with unprecedented clarity. This cluster acts like a cosmic lens, magnifying the light from objects lying behind it and making it possible for astronomers to explore incredibly distant regions of space. As well as being packed with galaxies, Abell 1689 has been found to host a huge population of globular clusters.

Greetings Woopert - Lovely morning somewhat clouded by news of the price of cataract surgery/new lens/new contact lenses but hey what price good eyesight - with our lot I am generally pleased with our new signings and time will tell if they all gel properly - there were more posters this time last year than now and your lot are going quite well Stewie seems to have gone forever and poor you posting the midweek game with comment from no one till after the game responding - the other Saturday there was no match thread have you any idea why the apathy - never mind old boy we are still at it ATB
