This Jinty locomotive was built in Glasgow in 1926 by the North British Locomotive Company Ltd.
It entered service as LMS number 16440, but was then renumbered to 7357 in 1934.
Under BR it was again renumbered, to 47357, and continued working until it was withdrawn from service in 1966.
It was sold to Woodham Brothers scrapyard at Barry in 1967.
In 1970 it was rescued by the Midland Railway Trust and moved to the Derby Works for restoration work.
After restoration it entered service at the Midland Railway - Butterley in 1973, with the LMS running number of 16440.
After hauling the inaugural passenger train in 1981 this Jinty was a regular runner and attraction at the Midland Railway Centre.
Eventually, the locomotive was withdrawn for a major overhaul. The high costs involved meant it sat waiting for 16 years until the overhaul was completed and it returned to service in 2024.
It is now a regular runner at the Midland Railway.
