-The first City of Leicester locomotive, a 4-6-2 Coronation Pacific 6252.

Originally designed in 1937, by Sir W A Stanier, at a later date, the rear tender was modified. Most of its service was spent hauling main line express passenger trains on the London-Glasgow-Perth route.

The locomotive, which had been based at Crewe and covered more than one-and-a-quarter million miles during its service.

Ex-ROD 2-8-0 Class O4/3 No 6257 is seen passing Braunston & Willoughby on an up goods train circa 1928.
Built in February 1919 by the North British Locomotive Company, LNER No 6257 was later renumbered in 1946 as LNER No 3842 and then by British Railways as No 63842 which it carried until it was withdrawn from service in April 1965.
