please log in to view this image Locomotive No: 99 4652 After World War II, a number of locomotives from the Heeresfeldbahn (military field railway) were peacefully employed on various narrow gauge railways in East Germany. 99 4652 was one of three locos of this type operating on a small line south of Berlin. After this railway was abandoned, the locos went to the Baltic island of Rügen, where numerous tourists rode on trains behind these charming machines. When they were due to be scrapped, two of the locos, the "Nicki S." and the "Frank S.", were rescued by a railfan. In 1990, the locomotive came to the Öchsle, a 19 km long touristic railway line in southern Germany. The 99 4652 "Frank S" is seen here being coaled at the Ochsenhausen shed for the next run.
