Smoke I can see where you are coming from mate, but like Chan, I have to disagree with you on the subject. Like Chan said, the medals are easier to win than the Olympics and World Championships, but that doesn't mean that the Comm Games has next to no merit. In fact "****e" competition is littered with some of the best athletes on the planet. Olympic and World Championship medallists are every where. The magnificent Brownlee brothers, Usain Bolt, Valerie Adams, Kirani James, David Rudisha, (who got beaten) Sally Pearson etc. This list could go on for ever. The pool was awash (forgive the pun) with Olympic and WC medallists. I very much doubt that was a sport in the Glasgow Games that didn't have it's fair share of world class athletes. It's not every day that we get to see some of the biggest names in sport strut their stuff.

Don't agree with that at all, Badger. Gives a chance, and a possible stepping-stone, to countless young athletes across the globe. Don't forget, there are around 54 countries involved with a combined population of 2.2 billion. How on earth can that be s***e?

Also, does anyone question the Pan American Games, the African Games, the Asian Games, etc.? So, long live the Commonwealth Games. May it continue to be a great success. I'm sorry, but I do not see where you're coming from.
 
Well that's my last shift completed at Glasgow 2014. I met some fantastic people and had a great time. Next stop Ryder Cup.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games are being held in Australia's Gold Coast - hmm I wonder!

Given that the Sydney 2000 Olympics and 2006 Melbourne commonwealth games were seen as a blueprint for London and Glasgow i think the Goldcoast will do just fine.
